I work for an art’s organization. It specializes in things like space in a city where people have none, fancy equipment that you could never afford, and passing judgment on non-members. I was a direct, unabashed replacement for an employee not pulling her weight (whether by choice or not is not my place to say). As per company policy, emails sent to her address were forwarded to mine. What ensued was a barrage, a tumult, a complete inundation of opening announcements, artist’s looking for funding, calls for work. Every art’s related piece of spam you could imagine. Shocked by not only the amount of material, but also its seemingly hive-mindish vocabulary and construction, I began sharing examples with a close friend… who then suggested I make my collection available to the public. Thus, The Dialogue Between was born.
